Stallion Doin’ Work – More Than One Can Shake A Stick At

My mood today: Tired and cranky even after getting plenty of sun. My go-to sun soaking game of the day has been Civilization Revolution on WP7.

On Tuesday Kobe scored 38 points against the Nuggets in a Lakers victory leaving me with at least 38 achievements to get on Wednesday. Not quite the 50 I had wished for, but still a challenge none-the-less.

I ended up completing the challenge by gaining 40 achievements for the day in 5 different games. Two days down! Hopefully a championship run to go!

Speaking of the NBA playoffs, I think the Lakers have as good a chance as about 3 to 4 teams to win it all this year. Miami really doesn’t want to see the Lakers or Spurs in the finals. Believe that! Since I truly think they have a legitimate shot, I pick them to win it all. But I wouldn’t be surprised if The Spurs, Oklahoma City or Miami does win the ring. There’s no reason why Miami shouldn’t be in the Finals when the dust settles because the Eastern Conference competition is a cake walk compared to the Wild, Wild West. They are good, but lets get real. The East has been a joke for many of years now. I think whoever comes out of the West will be your NBA champion.

Kobe and the Lakers play again on Friday night leaving me with a weekend challenge day.

I haven’t got much gaming under my belt so far today, only unlocking a few achievements in Mortal Kombat and Civ Rev for WP7. However, I recently gave a few mini reviews for some of the games I recently completed.

The Walking Dead Episode 1 for XBLA has 8 achievements for 100 gamerscore. It takes only a few hours to do and it’s so worth the $5 asking price.

For the first time in episodic gaming history, I actually thought I was playing an “Episode” of a game. One that should truly be played for the experience and story. The decisions you have to make, and the pace at which you have to make those decisions, has you on pins and needles through-out. By far my favorite point and click game out there. TellTale games does an amazing job of getting you attached to the characters in a short period of time. Maybe why I like it so much has a lot to do with the mature nature and zombies, but it’s real! Real as in, “Yo, this shit be real son!”

Rating: 8.7 out of 10

I sat on my above thoughts for a night before I jotted them down. Looking back, I might even bump the score up slightly. It’s really that damn good!

Prototype 2 takes around 12 hours to 1k.

Graphics are not too shabby all-around, but the city is just drab.

Audio: Voice acting is good for the most part with some funny dialog through-out. At times, the dialog is so dumb, it’s funny. Sound effects are right at the average level and the score leaves much more to be desired.

The game shines most in the game play department . It’s oh-so- fun making anything and everything that walks, bleed! As you progress through the game you will unlock different abilities that will give you a plethora of ways to dispatch your enemies. Have it your way!

If there was a story to get engrossed in, I did not see it. There isn’t enough variety in the mission structure or overly exciting in-game challenges to warrant replay value of any kind. Yeah, there are some collectables to be had, and thankfully, those are easy as pie to track down.

It’s fun leaping, running, and flying around in the city like a boss on steroids, but that city is just too empty. It doesn’t have the appeal or fun factor of the higher end sandbox titles currently available on the system which are much more deserving of your time.

Fun, but forgettable. And please, give us co-op or give us death next time.

Rating: 7.2 out of 10

I wrote this as soon as I got the 1k and I stick with the exact rating I gave it.

I also played quite a lot of Fable Heroes last night/this morning. Probably a lot more fun due to the co-op experience it offers, but I do not have many complaints. I really do enjoy the game but there are two things that I don’t like: Having to wait for a level to be unlocked once the top 100 on the leaderboard gain 1,000,000,000 accumulative coins and the fact that it doesn’t save the progress for the client in Xbox LIVE multiplayer co-op. Achievements and everything have worked fine thus far, but when I go to single player nothing is unlocked that I did online except characters and coins. No level progress….. 🙁 I do love me some 400 point arcade games though. Hell, I may very well end up buying every single one of them.

Cindy and I are in the process of planning an escape to the mountains in the near future and I’m really looking forward to that. I still need to get after it (gamerscore chase) before we do go as I’m trying my best to put a dent into 800k’s big ol’ chunky ass. One chop at a time.

The new recording time for The Gamerscore Popcast is afternoons on Friday. Do you have something you would like to ask or say. Call us and leave a message! (424) 256-6512 There’s still time for your voice to be heard on the upcoming episode.

Last bit of info is a deal running on Amazon that lasts this week for some headsets I’ve recently used and grown to love. The TRITTON

Don’t screw around with animals either.

Stallion Doin’ Work: It’s back! Playoff Edition

It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t of left you, without a dope blog to geek to (geek to, geek to, geek to, geek to)

Stallion Doin’ Work is where I try to match Kobe Bryant’s points scored with achievements gained the very day after a Lakers game.  (24 hour period to match) Just another challenge to keep me motivated and on track for my ultimate goal of 1,000,000 gamerscore.

Sunday Night VS. the Nuggets:  Kobe 31 points

On Monday I passed the challenge unlocking 34 achievements across 4 different games.

No one knows how long the Lakers will survive this years playoff run, but if they stay in the mix, this will at least be a 20 day challenge. Even if the they get bounced in the second round, the challenge will last for a solid 10 days which is good enough period to get my achievement juices flowing again.  I am crossing my fingers for the former since many of you know, I’m a huge Lakers fan.

Why am I starting this challenge again? I knew the tank was on empty the moment I got a message from someone with less than 2,000 gamerscore calling me out. You aren’t getting much gamerscore anymore. Why is that true?”

It’s totally true. I stopped doing a lot of stuff related to my 1,000,000 goal and started enjoying the little things in life. I’ve been at this for going on 7 years, day in and out, with only a few breaks and vacations. At around 540,000 I contemplated giving it all up, but found a reason to dig deep and muster up the motivation it would take to continue. Up until around 700,000, everything was going just fine. Then I went into another self evaluation process knowing very well how hard the uphill battle from 700,000 to 800,000 will be. Even to the point of telling my girlfriend, “I hope you’re busy all week, because I’ll be.” Instead of blogging or communicating much by way of text, I’ve used the Gamerscore Popcast to be my only line of communication besides my occasional tweets. Maybe that should change a little. In the past I was at my best when I was vocal and doing little challenges like this. It may suck every bit of life out of me, but it gives me bursts of all out gaming marathons.

I still don’t feel like I can say whatever I want to say and I’m still wondering if there will ever be a time or place to do so. It’s becoming a difficult thing to manage. It’s not because I really give a damn about what people think or say, but it’s the latching onto every word that I say. I get called every name under the sun and just have to let it float off my back like a duck out of water. Buy The Walking DEAD ON XBLA!!!!  Probably not a single one of you have experienced it to the degree that I have. On the flip, if I call someone an ass, they will try to gain recognition off of the fact that I called them an ass. As much as I love the internet, some people are just way too deep with it. I love communicating with like minded individuals, but all the other drama and little trolls just need to be eradicated like cockroaches. Another thing is, dealing with the wolves in sheep’s clothing, which forces me to put my guard up at all times to keep them out of my way. I have a pretty solid bullshit detector and I’m good at reading people, so you may want to find someone else to prey on.

Over the last 6+ year I’ve been a shield of sorts to the gamerscore community. Mostly me taking all the flack, but in every interview I do, I’ll try to shine a positive light on gamers and gamerscore hunters while everyone else is sitting back drinking tea and eating crumpets and unlocking their achievements in peace. It’s not easy to change the views of others on a culture when everyone else is seemingly working against you. I’m using this goal or outlet to try and inspire gamers to be more at whatever it is that he or she wants to accomplish in life. If you give it everything you got, you have a chance of being the last man standing. It’s no longer just about a score, it has evolved into something greater. When everyone wants to see you fail. you don’t curl up into a ball and just take it. You fucking fight with everything you got. Not tomorrow or a week from now, go fight now!

“But it ain’t about hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit…and keep moving foward”

Kobe and Lakers play in game two of the first round tonight. I hope he goes for 50 so that tomorrow will be a rough one for me.
