Stallion Doin’ Work – The Stage is Set

Round Two Starts Monday Night

An update on two challenge days:

On Thursday night a sick (literally and figuratively)  Kobe scored 31 points in a game 6 loss against the Denver Nuggets which set the stage for a winner-take-all game 7 to be played in La La Land.

Friday was my challenge day to match the points that Kobe scored in achievements unlocked. I did pass the challenge; earning 32 achievements across 6 different games.

The winner-take-all game 7 was played on Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles California. Kobe scored 17 points in a win over the Denver Nuggets and The Lakers move on to play the Oklahoma City Thunder in Round 2 which begins on Monday night. The challenge lives on for at least another 4 games with this victory.

Sunday was the challenge day for me. I unlocked exactly 17 achievements across 4 different games to get the job done.

I really can’t see the Lakers getting by this younger and more talented Thunder team. I wouldn’t bet my money on it happening, but I wouldn’t be totally shocked if they somehow managed to squeak on by. The Lakers bigs need to play out of their minds for the entire series to even give LA a chance. If LA can steal game 1, I think the Lakers will win in 6. Big if!  I’m hoping for a rusty Thunder squad since they have been idle for 8 or 9 days now. Then again, I’d rather be rusty then dog-ass tired like the Lakers will be after playing seven grueling games in the first-round.

Episode 40 of Proof that I have a Max Payne Fan Card

I saw The Avengers movie last night in 3D and all I can say is go see it for yourself to experience the awesome. Quite the epic moving going affair. Cindy absolutely loved it as well. I generally hate 3D movies with the exception to that rule being Avatar. Avengers, in my eyes, is totally worth seeing on the big screen in 3D. Hulk Smash the Box Office!!!

Stallion Doin’ Work – Got My Game Face On

Kobe scored 43 points in a loss against the Nuggets on Tuesday night.

By the skin of my teeth, I completed the challenge by unlocking exactly 43 achievements across 7 different games on Wednesday.

I finally got to see what all the hype was about with Minecraft. A very fun and creative little game that I would play for countless of hours on end if I wasn’t chasing down gamerscore glory. Easy to pick up and play, yet, it seemingly has infinite possibilities. It became the most downloaded XBLA for the first 24 hour period….and for good reason. I guess the 1600 Microsoft points didn’t scare the masses away like one would think.

The Lakers play again here in a matter of minutes on Thursday night and apparently Mr. Kobe Bryant is sick. I’m just going to assume that he will play…always does when sick. But I’m probably off the hook slightly because I doubt he goes for 30 plus points. That leaves me with a challenge on Friday.

Pinky from Next Friday gets me every. time.

Stallion Doin’ Work – Getting My Mojo Back

My mood today: Even.  which = happy

Only slightly unhappy because of an extremely painful hip. It’s no easy task, almost borderline impossible, to jog or play Kinect with this injury. What’s odd is that it actually feels better when I’m standing up, but when I lay down the pain is crazy depending on the way my body is positioned.

I’ve also been spending more time on my Xbox than usual. That’s cray! Right? Lets see how long this will last for.

A swift update today since I still need to get some reps in and take a shower before the Lakers game tonight.

On Sunday night Kobe scored 22 points in a Lakers win.

I completed the challenge on Monday by unlocking 25 achievements in 3 different games. (Mortal Kombat, Wordament, and Little League World Series 2010)

I’ve been mostly playing Little League World Series and it’s much, much longer than I expected it to be. The full 1k will take no less than 20 hours but at least I’m over halfway done at this point. I don’t love it or hate it, but I can’t recommend it unless you are scratching and clawing for something to play, and in most cases, you probably aren’t. There’s better stuff for you guys to play, trust me when I say that.

Really looking forward to Minecraft tomorrow morning on XBLA. $20 is a steep price to pay for arcade games, but I want to see what all the fuss is about. The extra 400 gamerscore doesn’t hurt, either.

Everybody and their brother is raving about how good The Avengers movie is so I feel inclined to check it out this week. Hopefully that happens because I do love me some $7 popcorn.

I think I got my gaming motivation back, but it doesn’t hurt to search for more.

The Lakers play again tonight (Tuesday) which leaves me with a hump day challenge (Wednesday)

A little unknown fact: 2Pac was a member of Digital underground. Seen below.

Stallion Doin’ Work – The Price is Wrong, Bitch!

My mood today: Happy as a clam. I tried to play fetch outside with my cat but she was more interested in eating the grass And yes, my cat Miss Mittens will play fetch with any ball that has a little bell in it.

On Friday night Kobe scored 22 points in a loss vs the Denver Nuggets and that automatically makes this challenge last at least another day in the grand scheme. The Thunder are now waiting for the winner of LA/Denver in the second round, which will be a very tough challenge if the Lakers make it by the nugs.

I completed the challenge on Saturday by unlocking 27 achievements across 5 different games.

I also completed 4 or 5 games over the course of the last couple of days and the one I want to talk about is,  The Price is Right: Decades.

There are two extremely luck based achievements tied to the Plinko pricing game which is why it’s so annoying and frustrating. Plinko is probably the shows most popular game since the crowd always cheers really loud when it’s revealed.

“Drop it like it’s hot” has to be done online and “Lucky Chips” has to be done in local multiplayer. Both are essentially for getting the plinko chip in the middle slot (beat ya to a “that’s what she said” comment) 3 out of the 5 times. Just straight up luck based.

For “Drop it likes it’s hot” I did get very lucky by unlocking it during my 3rd of 4th attempt without trying or knowing it was even my chip that was getting dropped like it’s hot into the middle for the big bucks. When the achievement unlocked the first thing to pop into my head, naturally, was Snoooooooooooooooop.

I’m pretty (100%) sure I did the little Snoop Dance when it did unlock.

“Drop it like it’s hot” being out of the way without much fuss, I still had to somehow manage a way to get  “Lucky Chips” to unlock if I ever wanted to conquer the evil Bob Barker game. In multiplayer it’s not as easy as just picking whatever pricing game you want to play; you have to keep backing in and out of the game to get in the 80’s decade and then you have to play contestants row just to see if the Plinko pricing game shows up. Sometimes you won’t even get a game of Plinko to appear for an entire hour. On top of  dealing with all of that, once you actually get the game to come up, it’s a complete crap shoot on whether or not you will get lucky enough for the chip to fall in the middle 3 out of the 5 tries. I cussed Bob Barkers name for 3 hours straight this morning while attempting this shit stain of an achievement. If Bob dies within the next two months, I will feel like an asshole for cursing his name. Don’t forget to neuter your dogs and cats!!! Bob did teach us all that.

I don’t normally get excited when achievements unlock, but when I do, I tend to scream this phrase. “The price is wrong, bitch!”

Kobe and the Lakers play in roughly 5 minutes on this beautiful Sunday leaving me with a Monday challenge. I’ll predict a Lakers win and  Kobe scoring 35 points.

Stallion Doin’ Work – More Than One Can Shake A Stick At

My mood today: Tired and cranky even after getting plenty of sun. My go-to sun soaking game of the day has been Civilization Revolution on WP7.

On Tuesday Kobe scored 38 points against the Nuggets in a Lakers victory leaving me with at least 38 achievements to get on Wednesday. Not quite the 50 I had wished for, but still a challenge none-the-less.

I ended up completing the challenge by gaining 40 achievements for the day in 5 different games. Two days down! Hopefully a championship run to go!

Speaking of the NBA playoffs, I think the Lakers have as good a chance as about 3 to 4 teams to win it all this year. Miami really doesn’t want to see the Lakers or Spurs in the finals. Believe that! Since I truly think they have a legitimate shot, I pick them to win it all. But I wouldn’t be surprised if The Spurs, Oklahoma City or Miami does win the ring. There’s no reason why Miami shouldn’t be in the Finals when the dust settles because the Eastern Conference competition is a cake walk compared to the Wild, Wild West. They are good, but lets get real. The East has been a joke for many of years now. I think whoever comes out of the West will be your NBA champion.

Kobe and the Lakers play again on Friday night leaving me with a weekend challenge day.

I haven’t got much gaming under my belt so far today, only unlocking a few achievements in Mortal Kombat and Civ Rev for WP7. However, I recently gave a few mini reviews for some of the games I recently completed.

The Walking Dead Episode 1 for XBLA has 8 achievements for 100 gamerscore. It takes only a few hours to do and it’s so worth the $5 asking price.

For the first time in episodic gaming history, I actually thought I was playing an “Episode” of a game. One that should truly be played for the experience and story. The decisions you have to make, and the pace at which you have to make those decisions, has you on pins and needles through-out. By far my favorite point and click game out there. TellTale games does an amazing job of getting you attached to the characters in a short period of time. Maybe why I like it so much has a lot to do with the mature nature and zombies, but it’s real! Real as in, “Yo, this shit be real son!”

Rating: 8.7 out of 10

I sat on my above thoughts for a night before I jotted them down. Looking back, I might even bump the score up slightly. It’s really that damn good!

Prototype 2 takes around 12 hours to 1k.

Graphics are not too shabby all-around, but the city is just drab.

Audio: Voice acting is good for the most part with some funny dialog through-out. At times, the dialog is so dumb, it’s funny. Sound effects are right at the average level and the score leaves much more to be desired.

The game shines most in the game play department . It’s oh-so- fun making anything and everything that walks, bleed! As you progress through the game you will unlock different abilities that will give you a plethora of ways to dispatch your enemies. Have it your way!

If there was a story to get engrossed in, I did not see it. There isn’t enough variety in the mission structure or overly exciting in-game challenges to warrant replay value of any kind. Yeah, there are some collectables to be had, and thankfully, those are easy as pie to track down.

It’s fun leaping, running, and flying around in the city like a boss on steroids, but that city is just too empty. It doesn’t have the appeal or fun factor of the higher end sandbox titles currently available on the system which are much more deserving of your time.

Fun, but forgettable. And please, give us co-op or give us death next time.

Rating: 7.2 out of 10

I wrote this as soon as I got the 1k and I stick with the exact rating I gave it.

I also played quite a lot of Fable Heroes last night/this morning. Probably a lot more fun due to the co-op experience it offers, but I do not have many complaints. I really do enjoy the game but there are two things that I don’t like: Having to wait for a level to be unlocked once the top 100 on the leaderboard gain 1,000,000,000 accumulative coins and the fact that it doesn’t save the progress for the client in Xbox LIVE multiplayer co-op. Achievements and everything have worked fine thus far, but when I go to single player nothing is unlocked that I did online except characters and coins. No level progress….. 🙁 I do love me some 400 point arcade games though. Hell, I may very well end up buying every single one of them.

Cindy and I are in the process of planning an escape to the mountains in the near future and I’m really looking forward to that. I still need to get after it (gamerscore chase) before we do go as I’m trying my best to put a dent into 800k’s big ol’ chunky ass. One chop at a time.

The new recording time for The Gamerscore Popcast is afternoons on Friday. Do you have something you would like to ask or say. Call us and leave a message! (424) 256-6512 There’s still time for your voice to be heard on the upcoming episode.

Last bit of info is a deal running on Amazon that lasts this week for some headsets I’ve recently used and grown to love. The TRITTON

Don’t screw around with animals either.
